I’m Rikki Endsley, aka Geek Hawk. I’m a tech writer, editor, and community manager living in Kansas, and the single mother of one fabulous teen daughter.
On March 4, 2012, I ran my first trail race, the Pi Day River Rotation Half Marathon. Actually, that was the first time I ran any distance on a trail. Check out those race results and you’ll see that I tied for last place, along with my friend, Rhonda. But there was still pie! And I was hooked on trail running.
On April 9, 2012, I started training with my running coach, Coleen, the brains and beauty behind Tramps Like Us Running.
On May 2, 2012, I emailed Coleen and told her I’d decided to run my first 50 mile ultramarathon. Her response:
HOLY FUCK! I thought it would take AT LEAST a few months to get you to move up distances!! YOU ROCK!
She sure does have a way with words.
On August 4, 2012, Coleen gave me my official Trail Hawk running name: Geek Hawk.
On February 2, 2013, I’m scheduled to run my first 50 mile ultramarathon, the Rocky Raccoon in Huntsville, Texas. I hope they have pie at the end.
